お正月や結婚式、その他お祝い事の席に欠かせない吉祥文様。吉祥文様とはおめでたい、縁起が良いとされる動植物を描いた図柄です。寒い季節でも緑を茂らせる『松と竹』は長寿や子孫繁栄、生命力の強さを象徴し、甘く香る『梅の花』は気高さや美しさを表しています。着物や帯、食器と季節関係なく一年中慶事に使用される文様で、本来『松竹梅』に上下や優劣はないが、日本では商品やサービスの格付けを3段階で表記するのに使用されています。松は最上級、竹は２番目、梅は３番目になります。
